GOLD MEDAL IN SLALOM BY ANDREAS CONSTANTINOU AT THE EUROPEAN YOUTH SKI RACES AT SESSENA, SPAIN (2023 Europe & Africa Youth Championships)

Water Skiing: Gold medal from Andreas Constantinou at the IWWF E&A (Europe & Africa) Youth (U14 & U17) Championship at the Slalom event held at Sessena, Spain. It is noteworthy that 124 athletes from 20 countries participated at the event.

At the top of Europe with the Gold medal for 2023 by 14-year-old Andreas Constantinou at the Slalom event in the Under 14 (U14) category, with 4.25 buoys at 11 meters rope and boat speed at 55 km which is a new Cyprus national record. This is the best performance of 2023 in Europe and also globally, which ranks Andreas at Number 1 of the World Ranking list at the age of Under 14 (U14).
The effort of Andreas Tofas, who qualified for the finals with a performance of 2 balls on the 12 meters rope and took 11th place at the competition, was also commendable.

In the Under 17 (U17) category, Cyprus participated with the Tri-Athlete Ioannis Athinakis. Athinakis managed to enter the finals, and with a performance of 4180 points, he took 7th place in the figures, as well as the 16th place in the jump, with a performance of 28.3 meters. At the Slalom he finished in the 23rd place with a performance of 2.5 balls in the 13 meters rope.

It is worth mentioning that next weekend of August 17-20, in the Championship of the Slalom Under 21 (U21) in France, our athletes Florentia Loizidou and Stella Anastasi will be battling for a place on the podium.
