Andreas Constantinou Represents Cyprus at the IWWF U17 World Water Ski Championships in Argentina
Cyprus was proudly represented at the 2026 IWWF World Under 17 Waterski Championships by young athlete Andreas Constantinou, competing among some of the world’s top junior water skiers.
The championship took place from 30 March to 5 April 2026 at Ahumada Esquí Náutico, located between San José and Villa Dolores in Córdoba, Argentina. The event welcomed over 110 athletes from 18 countries and marked the first time Argentina hosted an IWWF World Waterski Championship.
Competing in the Under-17 Slalom category, Andreas completed his run with a score of 2.5 buoys at 12 meters rope length at 58 km/h, proudly representing Cyprus on the world stage.
However, beyond the official result, Andreas demonstrated exceptional courage, determination, and sportsmanship. Just three days before his competition, he was hospitalized due to gastroenteritis. Despite the physical exhaustion and difficult recovery, he stepped onto the water and gave his absolute best for Cyprus.
His performance is a reminder that true athletes are defined not only by scores, but by perseverance, passion, and the strength to compete through adversity. Andreas represented Cyprus with pride, heart, and fighting spirit throughout the championship.
The Cyprus Water Ski Federation congratulates Andreas for his effort, resilience, and dedication, and looks forward to seeing his continued progress in future international competitions.
